Alternative to the Welfare State:

The first thing is would be the increase in the
role of the voluntary sector. Charities currently employ over 500,000 workers
in the UK. The small scale and large scale charity organisations are set up to
provide support for those without jobs or homes.

Also people suggest that you could modify the
welfare state. Firstly some benefits could be made universal so that it is
provided regardless of the income of the families. In addition to this they
could have separate benefits only for those meeting certain conditions. This
would mean that it would save the government a lot more money and if not give
more aid to those who need the aid the most.
